The Underminers are a Ballarat-based duo comprising acclaimed singer-songwriter Justin 'Happy' Hayward and guitarist Chris Morris. The Underminers sound is a mixture of heartfelt and intimate lyrics, guitars, piano and subtle electronica treatments. The duo are currently mixing their second album with Melbourne producers Franc Tetaz and Dave Beattie. The album is due for release in early 2006.

The Underminers formed in 2002, with Justin Hayward coming off a long stint in seminal Ballarat band The Dead Salesmen. Having played with Chris Morris in various side projects in the early '90's, the duo already had an album of great songs which would form the basis of their debut album, Let's Get T-Shirts Made. The duo worked with Melbourne musician Andrew Coates to add programming and downtempo electronica and the final album was released to critical acclaim and strong radio airplay in late 2002. Mushroom Publishing signed the duo in early 2003.

The Underminers have been working closely with Ballarat based musician Dave Beattie ('The Hard Word', Snog) on new material and the final album should see the light of day in early 2006.
